7/10/2007 - Mr. Jack Young Presents at the Association of Credit and Collection Professionals
In July 2007, Mr. Young was a speaker at the 11th Annual Legal Education Conference of the Members’ Attorney Program (MAP), held in Chicago in conjunction with the 68th Annual Convention and Exposition of ACA International, the Association of Credit and Collection Professionals. 217 attorneys from across the nation attended the MAP conference. Mr. Young spoke regarding the “Legal Implications of Technology in the Collection Industry.” The presentation focused on how forms of modern technology, including email, the internet, caller ID, cell phones, automated/predictive dialers, and skip tracing, have outpaced legislation governing the collection industry, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Mr. Young addressed ways in which collectors can mitigate the risk involved in the use of such technology in connection with their collection efforts and the application of the new electronic discovery rules under the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
