3/26/2009 - Neal Moore part of panel discussion on FDCPA suits
On March 20, 2009, the Birmingham News reported suits against bill collectors in Alabama were up 295%. A sub-section of the Birmingham Bar hosted a panel discussion of this issue on March 26, 2009. Neal Moore was one of three featured panelists addressing common misconceptions about the FDCPA and the collection industry in general. The concept of aggressive, law-breaking collectors is an outdated one. Much of the increase in filings against debt collectors are suits about technical violations or other conduct that violates the strict language of the FDCPA but does not result in any true harm to the consumer. For more information about this issue, please contact Mr. Moore directly or any of the lawyers in the Financial Services Litigation department.
