Amy Blankenship, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, has joined Ferguson, Frost & Dodson as an associate. Ms. Blankenship most recently served as Advisor to Commissioner Deborah Taylor Tate at the Federal Communications Commission in Washington, D.C., where she focused on media and telecommunications regulation. During her time at the FCC, she advised the Commissioner on the 2009 Digital Television Transition, the merger of XM and Sirius Satellite Radio companies, and reconsideration of the media ownership rules. Prior to joining the FCC, she served as Counsel to U.S. Senators Jeff Sessions and Sam Brownback on the Senate Judiciary Committee. In those roles, she advised the Senators on federal judicial nominations, including Justice Samuel Alito and Chief Justice John Roberts. She also oversaw passage of the Broadcast Decency Act of 2005 and introduction of the Public Expression of Religion Act.
Ms. Blankenship received her Bachelor of Science in International Business summa cum laude from Auburn University. She was President of the College of Business Executive Society and the 2001 Outstanding Student in the College of Business. She received her Juris Doctorate in 2004 from the University of Alabama, where she was a member of the Campbell Moot Court Board and the Jessup International Moot Court Team. She was an editor of the Law and Psychology Review.
